Platoon Leader by James R. McDonough and / or Common Sense Training by Arthur S. Collins. Two classics that apply regardless of your branch.

Platoon Leader is great for first hand combat experience as a new PL. I thought it also offered some clarification on just how terrifying Vietnam was in comparison to OIF/OEF.
