What should I do if I've been at my unit for a year and 4 months, but still haven't learned my job?

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Anyone know if there is a way for me to stop doing 92F work constantly and actually do my MOS, been at my unit for a Year and 4 months and I still have not learned anything about being an 89B besides counting ammo and having certs to handle it. Other than that Myself and most of the Ammo section only help the fuelers all the time and not once have they had to do anything related to ammo.Thu, 21 Feb 2019 17:18:49 -0500What should I do if I've been at my unit for a year and 4 months, but still haven't learned my job?

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Nathan, contact the SORB on Ft Drum, they can steer you to either a reclass or a packet for the 160th SOAR where you will definitely be the best 89B the Army can offer. <br />goarmysof.comCW2 Private RallyPoint MemberThu, 21 Feb 2019 17:30:29 -05002019-02-21T17:30:29-05:00Response by LTC Jason Mackay made Feb 21 at 2019 7:04 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>PFC Nathan Cervantes accountability is the second most important part of 89B work. The first is safety and not having to test the OD Company firefighting capability. Your unit has not had an aerial gunnery density in sixteen months? Sounds like you have done FARPs with a big R little A. Most ammuntion work is to receive, store, issue, account, conduct surveillance, maintain, and retrograde is at the ASP along with a QASAS By design. BCTs and others are technically supposed to receive the munitions as they expend them and the organic ammunition capability is a pass through or an ATP. Occasionally you end up running an AHA by default or as a Garrisonism. It should still have accountability mag cards, segregation, NEW considerations etc.<br /><br />You are also in a light division. Tank Ammo is a big deal other places. But you're in a CAB....hmmm. <br /><br />Your section could volunteeer to run an AHA for small arms density or go check out a Field Artillery AHA when they do their gunnery so you can learn more.LTC Jason MackayThu, 21 Feb 2019 19:04:52 -05002019-02-21T19:04:52-05:00Response by SPC Chimene Radcliffe-Webster made Feb 22 at 2019 4:30 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>All I can say is find the Ammo Depot where you are stationed and talk with the Ammo Warrant/Officer and see what he can do for your Ammo section. Trust me I know the feeling I did my jpb over in Korea not here in the States.SPC Chimene Radcliffe-WebsterFri, 22 Feb 2019 04:30:55 -05002019-02-22T04:30:55-05:00Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 28 at 2019 12:09 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Is there an 89B NCO in your immediate ammo section? If there is, that NCO should be doing whatever he or she can to get you and the other 89B's ammo experience. I know how you feel...when I was an E4, I worked in the SSA with the 92A's but 2 to 3 times each month I would be the driver for an ammo draw at the ASP. Also, when you begin to approach the time for a possible PCS, begin checking to see if you have any requisitions on AKO. If you dont know what requisitions are, they are available positions for your skill level in the US Army at different units that you can volunteer for. Feel free to contact me if you want to.SSG Private RallyPoint MemberThu, 28 Feb 2019 00:09:41 -05002019-02-28T00:09:41-05:00Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 11 at 2019 12:43 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The best way to learn about your job if your unit wont let you is do it yourself. There are plenty and I mean plenty of courses online in ALMS or JKO that you can take. They go in depth on all the works of your job.SPC Private RallyPoint MemberSun, 11 Aug 2019 00:43:29 -04002019-08-11T00:43:29-04:002019-02-21T17:18:49-05:00
