I have the welcome letter and packing list but still lack information on what to be prepared for, what will the living quarters be like, will we get weekend passes, etc. Thu, 07 Jan 2016 09:55:53 -0500 What should I expect for MP BOLC? Just about a month to go until graduation. The course is split into 3 phases: Soldiering phase, Law enforcement phase, and TACSOP phase.

The soldiering phase takes you through the basics (ie. marksmanship, Army values, overview of MP disciplines) and is mostly classroom material with ranges scattered in there. In Law Enforcement phase takes you through how MPs conduct policing operations, mainly focused on the garrison environment. You will learn about riot control, traffic stops, paperwork, active shooter, NLWs and more! OC exposure is during this phase and will be your worst day of the course! The phase is capped off by a LE exercise that incorporates all the stuff you have learned. The TACSOP phase is focused on all the tactical missions that MPs can perform. You focus on detention operations and security and mobility support operations. This phase is typically the least popular because of Tactical Exercises Without Troops (TEWTs) which are operation orders and briefs you must give. My BOLC class was tasked to write/brief six of these. Some classes do less, some do more. This phase is completed after a week long FTX where you lead these missions in a tactical environment. If I were you I would get a copy of the Military Police Leaders handbook (FM 3-19.4) for this phase

Overall, do not worry about the course. You will do fine. The SGLs/cadre are all very professional and do a great job teaching you the basics of being a Military Police Officer. Good luck and if you have additional/specific questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help you out!
