I know a lot of MP's but they a re all active duty. I can only assume that you will be heavily engaged in millitary and civilian law classes. Firearms and special tactics and weapons training, crowd control, search seizure training and arresting procedures. it all sounds like a lot of fun. Your AIT can vary on how prior service (relcass status) are treated/considered. you could either be placed in the same barracks or different ones. You could be under the same restrictive standards as the IET's or given a little bit more free reign. All depends on the school house. AT's are full blown busy times lots of training cramped into the tightest group as possible. They are usually fun and enjoyable times. If you are contemplating joining the reserves go for it. Reclass is very easy for some MOS's it's just a two week course you do for AT your first year. That will determine what type of training you will do during a battle assembly (drill). There are combat support, guard, law and order, and various other types of Reserve MP units.
AIT will give you a broad understanding of all five of the major functions of a MP: Police Intelligence Operations, Internment/Resettlement, Law and Order, Area Security, and Maneuver and Mobility Support. Once you arrive at your unit, you should receive training as to what your specific unit does. Yes, some months may be administrative and full of classes. But, keep in mind that, as a reservist, your unit is required to complete month required tasks that other components have a whole month to complete.

Here is some good information. It will give you a good idea of what to expect during your reclass:
http://www.wood.army.mil/usamps/Training/BMPC31B.html SFC Aaron G. You are going to get a whirlwind bunch of classes on UCMJ, then on how to correctly fill out forms. One mistake is a "No Go". You are going to get POW training on everything from setting up a detaining area to doing cell extractions. To will be doing route recon and planning, traffic control (TCPs), riot control, MOUT training.

You really need to have an understanding of what an MP is. When people think of MPs they think we are post cops and we are, but there is so much more to being an MP. We truly are the "Swiss Army Knife" of the army. Our job is to come in right behind the infantry and hold the area so that it can not be retaken, make sure supply lines are clear to the front, process and guard the POWs, provide law enforcement to both military and civilians, and most important; make sure that the infantry doesn't get attacked from the rear. That is what your training is going to be all about.

You have picked one of the best jobs in the army for sure. You will be a student leader when it is needed. The new soldiers will always ask you questions. My best advice is to tell them to ask the Drill Sergeants. Stay away from them as much as possible. They will get you in a lot of trouble if they can. While going thru training, as an insert, you will be allowed to have a cell phone, smoke, and go to the PX and on base resturant to eat for chow if not in the field. Do not let anyone use your phone or give them a smoke or get them food they should not have. We had a problem with a few inserts that did that. That is the best advice I can give.
