But seriously don’t sweat it they will tell you what you need to know when you get there.
As for reclassify it’s not that simple- gotta pass a board and be recommended. However I will say this- make sure you do it for the right reasons. Recruiting is not all rainbows and unicorns, it requires hard work, dedication, a whole lot of sweat, blood and tears. It’s not an easy mission. You really need to enjoy it and find it to be a calling. Don’t try to convert because you will be in your own bed every night. You really need to get something from doing the job. I’ve been doing this job for 13 years and I’m telling you it’s not for everyone Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 26 at 2018 7:05 PM 2018-07-26T19:05:55-04:00 2018-07-26T19:05:55-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 3828838

I would not recommend studying. The main regulation you will use, AR 601-210, is confusing to someone who is not school trained. At least, it would have been if I had read it first. In school you will be taught how to use and search the regulation. You will get an email when you are eligible to reclass. I believe it’s at your 15 month mark. Learn the job first and experience USAREC before you consider a reclass. USAREC is very different from FORSCOM. Some like it and others do not. It’s difficult, especially for those who don’t have the gift of gab and don’t work on the self development to improve in that area. My suggestion, don’t waste time studying for the course. Buy a couple of books and read them. Two of my suggestions are:
-“How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie - read this one first
-“The Like Switch” by Jack Schafer

I’m not going to lie, I considered pursuing 79R all throughout my time at the school house but after getting to the Command completely changed my mind. I’ve been successful so it’s not that (Top in my center every FY and fluctuate within the top 3-4 in my company). I don’t say that to toot my horn but most often you see the vocal ones about USAREC decent are no producers and have given up.

Focus on your communication skills and striking up random conversation with people. Today’s market joins the Army because they buy into you and the image of yourself your presented to them. It’s completely true. I have seen guys who can make appointments and conducts for days but in the end no one enlists for them because when they meet in person there is no bond established or they find the Recruiter boring in person.

A perfect example of the applicant buying into you, the recruiter I replaced was very well liked by the community. After he left I took over his future soldiers, I swear to god this really happened. One of his Fs brought in their direct deposit form all filled out and asked me why they needed that. I said, well the Army deposits your pay directly into your bank account. His response... wait so I get paid while I’m on Active Duty?? This kid loved the persona that recruiter had put forth and wanted to be like him to the point where up until that point he thought he was going to be going 3 years with no paycheck and was completely fine with it. (I’m not saying don’t tell kids about the pay I’m just saying the power of a clean positive image they can look up to is what draws these kids in).

Wish you the best of luck in your Recruiting adventure! 9 months left on my blood debt and I’ll keep grinding until my PCS leave! At RRS you really just learn how to "scrub" regs, use the programs on your computer and conduct exercises to break out of your shell. Show up willing to participate and step out of your comfort zone and you will be fine. As far as converting, as others have stated, your desires can change in a matter of minutes. I have been out of USAREC for a few years now and I desire to return at one point later in my career. I was DA selected and due to the mere fact that I had minimal operational time, decided not to convert and instead, returned to "Big Army". I was in a great area, great command teams and solid co-workers which made the experience pleasant. Others I know in different areas have had negative experiences and would ETS over converting. Once on recruiting duty, you will learn about many programs and opportunities the Army has to offer that many simply have no idea exist. You may find yourself interested in bigger and better things and you won't even consider converting. Get through the school house, recruit into your second FY and THEN consider converting. Once I finished my studies, I had data to present in the result chapter.
