For myself I like to use the "3 Tells" concept: paragraph 1: Tell me what you are going to tell me. i.e. I want to be an Officer based on the influence of George Washington, the ordeals of Captain Fuzzybear, and my father who was a fill in the blank. Paragraph 2,3,4, are the "Tell Me" paragraphs. They will be one paragraph each on the reasons listed in Paragraph one. Last Paragraph is the "Tell me what you told me " or a review and closure of the document. This is how I would do it, but there are other ways, and I am sure others will chime in. I hope this helps. If you don’t like writing you better get use to it because you will find yourself up late at night by yourself writing Operation Orders while everyone else is sleeping. Don't forget the introductory and summary paragraphs. You don't want to make it too long or wordy because you will have to write out the essay at the local OCS board. So, memorize it to heart. The good thing about writing the essay is that it helps you during interviews and the OCS board.
