I'd like the official titles of the grades to be job descriptive. E-1 through E-4 would be the Troopers of the new Service. E-5 through E-9 are supervisors. Warrant Officers are titled as the experts they should be. Officer titles draw from both the Army, Navy and civilian enterprises. Also a split manager/leader track at O-3 allows some officers to be managers (staff officers) and others to be leaders. Formal form of address would follow the Marine Corps model of using the entire title, such as "Senior Master Trooper Smith" or "Senior Commander Jones." The informal forms of address will develop over time. Commission Officers would follow the Navy structure starting at Ensign and continuing up through the Admiral ranks.
Ground-based lower enlisteds would be Junior Technician Third through First Class, NCO's would be Senior Technician Third through First Class, and Chief Technician, Senior Chief Technician, and Master Chief Technician. Commissioned Officers would be the same as for space-going officers.
It's a starter for 10, anyway.
