Looking far into the future what do you think the military research and development priorities should be to allow the United States to have the ability to deal with any future threats.

Better gear to protect the people. I mean stuff that will counter things like IEDs blowing up next to a person. If the people were wearing an armor that was light easy to use but strong enough to shield them from a blast, that would be worth every penny.

For real though, better weapons for the troops. Replace the aging weapon systems, or at least upgrade them for optimization and performance.
