If you were POTUS, General, Admiral, Commandant, someone important, what stroke-of-the-pen change(s) would you implement? (Should be easy to inact, popular, positive, and cost-free, or cost effective.)

If I were President...

Day one, I would make English the official language but make Spanish mandatory from 1st grade on. I would demand that all federal laws be brought back to their core/root and tested to see in they are in line with Constitution, there by getting rid of redundant laws, contradictory laws, and/or expired laws. Revamp the IRS and the tax system, go with a flat tax/point of sale and do away with all the deductions and all the other crap (at least until the debt is paid).

Day two, I would revoke all executive orders, with the exception of my previously mentioned list. All others would be reviewed for adherence to the Constitution and America's best interests (mostly likely repeal/revoke 90% of them). And then I would permanently eliminate the right of all future executive orders without the full consent of congressional and judicial approval.

Day three I would most likely be assassinated... (though that one would not be my choice)

If I were temporarily in control of POTUS mind and body, I'd immediately resign from office, resign all POTUS appointees, and call for immediate new national elections to replace the entire administration. This stroke of the pen change would be easy to enact, popular, positive, cost effective, and establish precedent for future votes of no confidence in POTUS as a means to reestablish our credibility in the international community . . . Lol… I didn't mean if you were Emperor. Stroke of the Pen changes are simple fixes to common problems. An example would be: immediate authorization to spend unit money on unit specific ball caps as opposed to the current policy which effictively bans unit ball caps because of the red tape involved.
Maybe (if I were one of the last 5 Presidents) changing protocol so that hand salutes would be replaced by verbal acknowledgement when in close proximity to the President or some such solution to the latte salute or hands full salute or the I-have-no-clue-how-to-salute-'cause-I-was-never-in-the-military salute.

With a stroke of the pen, I would eliminate those EPA standards that do not contribute to environmental quality, but have resulted in manufacturers moving overseas because the costs to meet those standards drastically reduce those manufacturers profit margins.

I'd also call for tax reforms that replace our archaic tax code with a flat tax or the Fair Tax Plan. I would also prioritize government spending based upon what is mandated by the Constitution and eliminate wasteful spending.

I would set an example of living by the ethos of duty, honor, and country with a special emphasis on adherence to my oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution, and expect by subordinate leaders to do the same. Indeed, I believe that most of the problems that we face today can be attributed directly to leaders who fail in this regard.

We keep fighting in countries that are "helpless" to combat the terrorists within their own borders. We send billions in economic aid. No more checks to countries that won't at least get shot to hell fighting terrorists/extremists within their own borders. No more of my family getting shot up doing what other people are too cowardly to do for themselves.

Federal student loans. If you deployed in defense of this great nation, wipe the deck clean. I believe it is only done for troops who are now 100% disabled. Not good enough.

Welfare reform. I swear before God almighty that California pays $2,500 a month so that single parents can live on welfare in Huntington Beach, Tustin, Laguna Nigel, and other places $$$$$$$ to live at in. Might I suggest a lovely 4 BR 1 BA house in Barstow, CA for $600? It makes me want to vomit.

Retirees. $50,000 start up financing for 1st time Retiree small businesses. Applicants must attend mandatory classes and be appointed an accountant to oversee that the money isn't going to anything shady.

Welfare fraud. Selling of food stamps is an automatic felony. Running businesses that accept food stamps that are caught buying them for pennie on the dollar will face 10 years minimum, have their assets siezed, and sold. Proceeds will go towards homeless veteran programs (especially housing).

GENERATIONAL welfare recipients who are capable of working WILL work. If you want $1,000 in free money, produce $1,000 worth of labor. No one learns the value of something when it is handed to them. I don't care if it is policing up trash from vacant yards, painting over graffiti, cutting grass, or helping feed invalids. The work will start in neighborhoods that are so plagued with condemned buildings. I will take back those neighborhoods and clean house!

Call an emergency session of Congress, and not allow them to return to their campaign trails until they provided an up or down vote on US military intervention against ISIS. It is the job of Congress to declare war, and they should fulfill their obligations. I think many would agree that we are sick of the US fighting half assed wars, and the first step with that is to make it an official war.
