What type of discharge will I receive for being kicked out for PT failure? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-type-of-discharge-will-i-receive-for-being-kicked-out-for-pt-failure

I'm a split op reservist (haven't gone to AIT yet) in the USAR and I'm getting kicked out for failing 2 record PT test. Now I'm not making any excuses and I know that it's 100% on me that I failed and it's no one else fault but my own but would anyone know what type of discharge I'll receive? I'm only 19 and I don't want this ruining the rest of my life. You might be eligible to re-enlist in a few months-years with a waiver.
Why you won’t get in shape and pass? When I was split-op I didn't take any PT tests between basic and AIT. Did your unit have a unit APFT? We did ours at the end of our two week ATs. If there are things wrong or any issues that may be affecting you go get checked. Get a temp profile, stopping the record diagnostic, record process. (id do it anyway and have) I am a reservist. We are lucky because chances are your Doctor doesn't wanna see you get a general discharge either if there mayyyy be an issue. Regardless if there isn't you broke the chain and bought your self 90 more days plus the time on temp which by AR means you cant take a record. I did this...because I was having issues running heavy or after losing weight, come to find out I have a horrible knee ( idk what the spelling is)

Hope this helps, msg me if I can help battle SPC(P) Samuel T. It should not "ruin your life" to get discharged for failing two record APFTs.
"If in the Army AR 635-200, Chapter 13 Unsatisfactory Performance would be the authority to seprate. However, level of discharge would differ with situations. Entry Level Discharge or General would be the "norm" for a Entry level Soldier. But Honorable would occur if you fail after you pass your entry level status."

Look up the reg and read through to understand. In the ARNG it’s usually a general under honorable conditions. So I got out and went into the IRR for 3 years. During that time I let myself go I didn't care about my body or my weight or even my physical capabilities. That was until I hit 275 LBS. I said that was enough and lost the weight. I felt like my time in the military wasn't enough so I reenlisted into the Reserves last year. First PT test I barely passed (but PASSED). Im 30 years old now and have less then 6 months left on my Initial contract and have a packet in to go active duty. Almost a year later and I have lost 45 LBS.
2 of my biggest regrets in life was not joining the military right out of high school and not trying as hard as I have now to be physically/ mentally fit.
If its not to late work your ass harder then you've ever worked it before. Don't go my route you'll regret it for the rest of your life in my opinion.
Good Luck SPC(P) Private RallyPoint Member Mon, 30 Apr 2018 17:59:52 -0400 2018-04-30T17:59:52-04:00 2018-04-28T04:48:42-04:00
