Are they trying to chapter the individual or are they going for a med board? The processes are different and results vary depending on the route being pursued. But that fork in the road dictates everything.

I have not heard of anything different than Honorable in regards to Med Board discharges but I guess it would depend on the situation and anything could be possible depending on the details. What I can do is speak from experience in regards to a former Soldier of mine went before an MEB with all kinds of doctors and Officers for his hearing for a possible Psych Eval discharge. He wanted to stay, but everyone else said he had to go. For his safety and everyone else's. He was recommended for, and received, an Honorable. The worst discharge level I have seen for Psych is General Under Honorable Conditions. In most cases probably Honorable. I wouldn't think a discharge for mental issues would be less than a General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions.
