I’m leaving SFAB this Winter and decided to stay at Hood. I’m a 10 year staff sergeant and looking for something a little slower pace. I realize the army doesn’t care what I want but I finally have a choice since that was part of the “deal” coming to SFAB. I’m a 91B and hoping for insight from someone who is currently on/recently left Ft Hood. Thanks.

I wouldnt put much stock in the deal. I just left 2nd SFAB and jad to fight to get one of my top 3. HRC only has to try to match your top 3 with the needs of the Army to fulfill the "deal," but if your top 3 are all filled up or dont meet the Army's mission then you will be SOL.

Have you tried an NCO Academy or an instructor position if available?

ACRC is pretty low optempo. Occasionally there is a long range week. A lot of TDY that is more like a vacation. Camp Shelby MS was a big stop when I was an OC/T. That involved six hours on and 42 off

It’s up and down. I was in 2/12 cab and we did nothing for months then a long gunnery, makeup gunnery, squad lax, NTC, gunnery, FTX, Germany deployment for Gunnery and JMRC back to a long red cycle.
