What veterans groups are you part of?

So we all know about VFW and American Legion, but what smaller veterans organizations do you belong to and are out there?
I am the commander for the Scottish American Military Society (SAMS) post1847, member if VFW, and American leigon. But do more work with SAMS I feel the smaller community has a stronger connection but the larger has more resorces.

VFW, 4ID Association, 101st Association, MP Regimental Association.... I don't do anything with any of them.

Life member of VFW Post 3886 in Idaho because it is my "connection" home. I live in Denmark, grew up in Idaho, therefore my membership location.

There are ORGANIZATIONS, Organizations, and then "organizations". Consider the third in doing personal outreach, check ups, and meet ups. We have what's called the 1735 Club at a local tavern on Thursdays. Vets come and go, but they know the standard time and place. Haven't seen or heard from the 82 year old P-2 radio operator in a week? Check in. A number of Vets are living by themselves. Limit their alone time lest the dragon starts rattling the cage. One thing of note. Living very rural means the VFW and American Legion here are small shell units sharing a room at the Senior Center on a monthly Thursday night. What were once fairly active organizations have shed membership continually. Most split because of politics. That makes the "organizations" more important than ever.

Welcome Brother, Life member- VFW, DAV, Legion and retired Region 11 SAMS Commander. Right on, small groups still have drive to succeed, large groups tend to stagnant.
