What was the last command the 2nd Armored Division ("Hell on Wheels") fell under?

Doing a little research and I'm having trouble getting a clear answer on this since the unit was in the middle of deactivation when the Gulf War started and the BDE's were spread out between Germany and Hood. It was finally deactivated in 1995.

first division of my service/career in 1985. wore the patch over our left pocket. they became the 3rd AD for a month or so then became the 4th In Div. I served in 1/67 AR, 4th In Div. I did enjoy training in 1987 when we went to REFORGER in europe and germany. that was with the 2nd Armored Division. FYI, I was hell on wheels! HUYA...

Wouldn't it have been assigned to III Corps, since it was at Fort Hood, when it finally deactivated?

I wore that patch as a member of 2nd BN 252 AR in the NCARNG until late 1991. We wee a round-out battalion to 2nd BDE St. Lo. After the Gulf war the round-out status. The division (-) was part of 3 Corps. The BDE forward in Germany was in 5th Army as I recall. Hells Guard!

SSG Carlos Madden VII Corps for Operation Desert Shield/Storm. But they were inactivated at Hood in 95, so the probably were assigned to III Corps at the end.
