I was working a shop at Rhein Main AFB. There was very little stress and quite quiet, in spite of the fact that counter-terrorism was necessary. Germans in Jeeps were constantly on guard going around the perimeter of Frankfurt International Airport and the adjoining Rhen Main AB. I was just promoted to SrA (my favorite rank by the way). I was in a very old barracks, that was run down and I was on the basement. We had a canteen that made burgers and had soda and beer. I just loved that experience and often think of it. I pine for those times and remember them very well. I have memories of both good and bad. I got to do a lot of cool things and work with tools and people that many would not get. But Having the bond of brotherhood that grew is by far priceless.
