When I was able to graduate from the sandbox, I think the sliding board was the first piece of playground equipment I learned to "master." Monkey bars and jungle gyms were always fun to play on and clamber through. However, the swings seemed to let us escape to the heights. At least in our minds :-)

LTC Stephen F. When I was really young it was the monkey bars and jungle gym. The teeter totter was also fun, but we spent more time seeing if we could make the other person smack the ground with their butt. When I was a little older it was the merry go round so we could see who could hold on the longest while we tried to make each other fall off. Then it was the swing set, see how high you can go then jump. It was great to be kid before childhood was replaced with litigation, political correctness, and the general pussification of our nation.

I think I enjoyed all of the playground equipment when I was young. Breaking free from the confines of the sandbox to scampering, climbing, swinging and sliding provided a level of freedom that was wonderful spring, summer and fall bur rarely enjoyed in the winter months.
My favorite piece of equipment became the swings which every now and then I enjoy if I can find a set that would hold my weight :-)
Swinging as high as a I could and jumping off into the wild blue yonder or blue-gray yonder and landing in grass, leaves and sometimes mud was fine by me.
