While on Ambulance duty at El Toro. We had 3 back to runs to Camp Pendleton. That's a about a 45 minute-hour drive each way. After the last run we were stuck on Camp Pendleton because they had closed parts of the base because it had started raining and parts of the base began to flood. We were forced to stay on Camp Pendleton and assist with their ambulance runs which gave us an additional 24 hours of ambulance duty which sucked because I was supposed to start leave @1600. I was a bus driver for Soldier's going to JRTC/NTC rotations, being that I am at Fort Campbell I had to drive them to BNA in Nashville.

I wasn't given much info, just told to be there. So I show up on time and take these Soldier's to Nashville, and gotten back around 2230. Thinking everything was said and done, I parked the bus and started to exit the bus. As I was headed to my car, the MSG in charge stops me and says I need to be back at about 0200 for the next run.

Needless to say I wasn't happy. However once it was all said and done, I was happy to crawl into bed. I've had a good time in the military so far, and if this is my worst day in 3 years the rest can't be so bad. After 36 hours non-stop tactical training, we were in a tactical road march in our M-113's I was the only driver in our squad. I was pretty well wasted from lack of sleep, and a tactical road march at night is the most boring tactical movement known to man. I was beginning to hallucinate, and my TC (one of the team leaders) figured out what was going on. He talked me through all the way to our TAA. We were given a few hours sleep, and just after they started waking us up an APC came flying through our assembly area and ran over my team leader and killed him. He was a complete a**hole most of the time, but he stepped up for me when I needed it that night.
