What will it take to get Colin Powell to run for President? He has my vote!

We desperately need good leadership! What would it take to convince Colin Powell to serve his country in office one more time? I would vote for him for President. I believe he could win. What do you think?

I would have supported that until he made the case for WMDs that we never found to help get us into a war we should have never fought.
I really like the man, but he committed political suicide with that.
Yes, I know my opinion differs from what everyone else will say on here, but what can I say?

I think he has made it abundantly clear that he will not run. And I don't think he is being coy or trying to wait for the right time to jump into the fray ... I think he is being honest and forthright when he says he will not run. He is, after all, 78 years old, so I just don't see it happening.

I wish he would. That said, I was fortunate to have been a military escort for Brent Scowcroft in the late '90's when there was a lot of support for Powell to run. Scowcroft, who knew Powell well told me Powell probably would never run - his wife didn't want him to.

I always thought Powell was the ideal candidate with no reason to suck up to either party.

I think General Colin Powell would make an excellent President and Commander-In-Chief. I would even support a "Draft Colin Powell" attempt. I think he is very balanced. I'm a Democrat, but I have found no politician who more reflects my ideology than General Powell.

My opinion on Gen. Powell changed forever when he stood silent in the Valerie Plame affair, when he knew from the start that it was his own chief of staff (Richard Armitage) that had leaked her identity to the press - and he silently let his Commander in Chief take the heat for it for three years, and he ultimately allowed a man (Scooter Libby) to be unjustly punished for something he did not do.

The man has no honor, in my opinion, and will never have my vote.

If he can be convinced to attend the Libertarian convention in Orlando on May 26, it will make national headlines.
I don't care if he is 78, 1 term of his leadership may be enough to save our nation from certain disaster, and he is smart enough to place a competent VP who certainly will be a better alternative to the current extremists at the top of the other two parties tickets.
