An entire Generation was raised with a chip on their shoulders. They were taught that they are entitled to free everything. The family unit has been dismantled. There is little to no personal accountability. People that never were slaves are demanding restitution from people that never owned slaves. SNAP and Section 8 is now a perfectly acceptable lifestyle and actually gives more money to someone than an actual job would provide..

What will it take?

Total anarchy in the streets. Entire cities burned and trashed. Total financial system collapse.

Only then will people re-learn that self-sufficiency and a good work ethic is the only way to survive.

Race relations were healing for a time. I guess we'll just have to recreate those conditions that existed in the last four decades of the 20th Century. A healthy economy in which all races are prospering. The elimination of the existential threat that we labor under these days. When people are fearful, they seek comfort in the familiar. Differences are scary. We'll also need leaders who calm and reassure their constituencies.

Ultimately time, close proximity, and genetics will solve the problem with race relations. However, we'll still have the problem with tribalism which has always been much worse.

1) Recognize that violent crime and police deaths are actually down, despite media hype.
2) Support community policing initiatives, get police to become a part of the communities they are policing. Increase the number of police in high crime areas, get communities and police to work together.
3) Provide better economic opportunity to economically disadvantaged Americans.
4) Improve the education system, more teachers, better teacher salaries, year round school, better breakfast and lunch programs, tuition free college.

Looking back, I would've avoided a lot of trouble and misunderstandings in my life, had I learned some social skills (etiquette and communication skills) sooner than later. I strongly believe Social Skills should be a required class every year from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Start there, and I believe people can learn to hold productive conversations that would make a Race Relations conversation irrelevant.

Generational change...and make race a non-issue. The more you complain and talk about it, to more it becomes real. Of course, it's a oxymoron because if you don't talk about it, you can't solve it.

I just wish the concept of race and other demographic issues become a non-issue.

First get rid of the race bait or in charge, he has done more damage to our country, since the 70s. Stop blaming the whole police force for the actions of a few. If the AG finds truly that someone civil rights have been violated have them stand trial. But this idea that these people can stop traffic, bully, intimidate, by being punks, thugs, thieves, rapist, murderers. That has to stop, no one will take them seriously, I know I would not. Get a education, get a jon, not at mcds. If you want to change your life, make a real effort, between a job, family, enough of taking a handout, earn it

None of the above will work. Hate is something that is taught. This is ingrained into people from a young age and no one seems willing to break the cycle. I've tried many times to break through the rhetoric and the bigotry, but even the bonds of Marine Corps Brotherhood can't keep a racist from being a racist.

An honest and frank national discussion about the history of this nation and how we got to where we currently are.

Things that won't help:

Revisionist history: This includes things like referring to those affected by the Trans-Atlantic slave trade as "workers" instead of slaves. Or referring to slaves as "man-servants". This is simply disingenuous.

The former was actually mass produced in a public school textbook and the latter was used in a documentary set in the 1780s
