I am so sorry that you break out so badly; when you shave. But what I can say is the words "permanent profile" gets thrown around and is deceiving.

When it comes to profiles on the military the intent is to rehabilitate and recover no matter what it is.

As far as shaving profiles go first I will give you a regulation you can read. TB-MED 287. It basically lays out how people are supposed to recover from shaving issues. Lastly in that document is laser hair removal.
2nd I will give you want many leaders and seniors think. Look at a Command wall and point out one 1SG, CSM, or Commander with a beard. You can't because they don't have one. Many seniors feel that if you are willing to "ride " a no shaving profile that you don't take the military as a career seriously because obviously you know you won't become a senior and you don't care.

3 I will tell you my personal opinion. 90% of soldiers I have encountered with a shaving profile take the maximum amount of advantage of it. They don't even try to keep it trimmed and they use it because it lets them be an individual. I feel a shaving profile is like any other "permanent" profile. If you can't overcome whatever it is than thank you for your service and move out of the way for someone else. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 17 May 2019 22:10:12 -0400 2019-05-17T22:10:12-04:00 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made May 17 at 2019 10:18 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-will-the-army-do-for-people-with-shaving-profiles?n=4645519&urlhash=4645519

A lot of people say a lot of crazy things. Until you see it in writing it's one of those ideas that get kicked around up at the pentagon between generals and Sergeants Major.

As for your shaving profile you should look into getting that resolved. Laser hair removal will at least reduce it to the point that you should be able to shave some of the time. Straight up, people with long term shaving profiles who have a noticeable beard are looked at as turds. In the military your image is part of your credibility and your first impression goes a long way.
