On a more serious note:
1. Obey the Constitution.
2. Follow and enforce the laws of the land as written.
3. See that all cabinet members and their agencies do the same.
4. Square away the VA.
5. Build the wall/fence/barrier to enable the Border Patrol to do their jobs.
6. Support law enforcement. When/if they overstep, see that investigation is completed, then punish the guilty - whoever it is.

Trump is a good businessman, and I like him for that. It's the diplomacy that he probably lacks. I did vote for Clinton because of that. The Russians seems to like Trump for some reason, I don't know. What if the Russian Government sends an Ambassador for some deals and Trump seems to be overbearing. That might be a heated discussion since the media is volatile for the moment.

Continued marginalization of the Democratic Party and continued reduction of the seats they hold in the Senate and House. Do what he promised to do. Get the Economy back at full 3-4% GDP Growth vs the stagnation of 1 to 1.5%. Repeal Obamacare and replace it with something that works......at this point I don't care if it is better, I just want something that works. Start reducing the Debt as a % of GDP (which should not be hard with 3-4% GDP). Depolitiicize the Intelligence Community and make them politically neutral again. Liquidate or shrink the size of Homeland Security and return the government back to it's smaller self, find a better approach to travel security than TSA. Continue to restore our infrastructure.

Obama apparently believed there was nothing he could do to keep jobs from being outsourced overseas, and so he commented from a position of powerlessness. I grew up with presidents HW and Clinton, and became an adult for the entire reign of Obama. I have zero expectations for Trump, and find the whole thing a tragic, entertaining mess.

Better? Worse? I can't bring myself to care. I'm some kind of hypocrite I've never observed before. I actually feel like I've earned my right to exercise the liberties outlined in the constitution i swore to uphold and defend. And yet, I'm completely apathetic as to it actually plays out before me.

Success for a President is different for each incoming President and IMHO to try and say what would make a new President more successful than the previous is a bit difficult as they each bring their own unique attributes. At the end of the day, history will be the deciding factor.

Doing nothing and just letting American ingenuity do what it does best all by itself would make a more successful term than the previous administration had.

But by the looks of it, that is not what President-Elect Donald Trump is doing. He has already shown that he can deliver on some of Obama's promises even before he takes office. He is, actually, "saving and creating jobs." He is saving money on government contracts and he is laying the groundwork for businesses to thrive and create even more jobs by cutting taxes and limiting regulation.

It is already very evident to me that we are in store for another Reagan-era growth cycle which I hope will last for eight years and beyond as in the '80s. If I am right, the Democrats will be hard pressed to convince the American people that they have a better way at the end of two terms. We may be seeing the start of a very long period with conservative leadership in Washington.

He will need to fulfill as many of his campaign promises as possible. He staked his presidency being responsible to the people. He must learn that while some of what he does works in the business world, it may not necessarily translate into a successful presidency. He cannot fight every political battle or he will be mired in petty squabbles. Listen to his advisors and be willing to go with what they say. He has chose a good team that will do their best to give him sound advice. He will have to have a thick skin or the media will constantly distract him from his main tasks. This nation has not been so polarized since Abraham Lincoln was elected 156 years ago. It will be his task to heal the nation.

Chief Groves, Trump has been POTUS for just over a month and he has already made a political mistake with the rollout of his executive order on immigration. The order is very similar to what Obama ordered in 2011, so it is nothing new. However something like this should have had prior annoucement. This is not a business and an order like this cannot be treated as a company memorandum to be followed by all employees. This fumble is something he can overcome as he gains experience in the demands of being President. What he should have done (and Reagan understood) is that he must constantly communicate his action before, during, and after he does something. He knows the media is his enemy (for now). The Democrat Party wants to see him fail and is trying its best to make that happen. By appealing to the people, he lets them know that, 1) He is keeping his campaign promises 2) making them aware of what changes are occurring and assuring them, and 3) disarming his opponents or at least making it harder to oppose him. If something is not working, don't be afraid to change it and find another solution. The people will be forgiving if he shows adaptability. His enemies will not be forgiving if he succeeds. They will be merciless if he fails.
Trump is no Reagan. Trump does not have the “gift of gab,” like the Gipper. Trump is not a finesse fighter but more of a brawler. He celebrates his own victories. Right now, he does not need to campaign to regenerate momentum. He already has it. This nation wants to see ACTION. We are tired of words.
As I said before in my previous post, he must keep his campaign promises and not get sucked into petty squabbles. The biggest support Reagan got was when the economy started to turn around and we saw the pride in our military restored. This took away most of the argument of his critics.
None of what I have said is about getting revenge on the previous administration. If his policies succeed in turning around this nation, he will have silenced their opposition. The last years of Reagan's terms were much easier than his first two years.

1. Actual security and lethal - ready defense.
2. I revamp of the ACA vs. scrapping it.
3. Actual immigration enforcement and policy; no one had the right to come here and stay here.

The temptation here is to say something like...."walk and chew gum at the same time". but a serious question deserves a serious answer.
President Trump has already done great things for America both intentionally and unintentionally. I voted for him not because he was the best candidate but because he was the ONLY candidate. I do not know if he can get the job done....or more importantly if he will he be allowed to get the job done, but our nation is imploding.....self destructing.... and if someone does not turn us around we will be just another great nation assigned to the dustbin of history. One thing Trump will have to do is to find a way to heal the divisions within this country that have sprung up over the past 8 years. Some of you here may support BHO and feel that he was a good president. I disagree. Our nation has been at war continuously since 2001-the longest period of war we have ever been in. Yet, our military was not fully prepared to face the tasks required of it. All of you have seen this first hand. Our forces now must face the possibility of war with North Korea and we cannot rule out the possibility of China, or Russia, or both joining against us. I have the best and easiest answer that would make him a second term.
If Trump manages to reduce the debt of our country by anything, he will have the Trumping card.
At the end of the day there is one undisputable fact that feelings cant change and all people see... NUMBERS and to that and more specific is DEBT. President Obama by all economic standards was one of the worst managers of our economy. This is not a feeling driven statement... is a fact. He enter his first term with a debt of 10 trillion and in 8 years he literally almost doubled it, exiting at 19.4 trillion. On top of that he didn't got handed a war which would make an exemption to the rule as historically, wars require lots and lots of spending, for example President Bush HAD to spent money... no ifs and no buts.
If Trump remains at the same debt he is already winning because by taking into account inflation he would actually be saving us money or reducing the debt.
If Trump was to reduce debt that would be a clear confirmation that by comparison he is a better manager of the economy and that would be undisputable and hard for another candidate of the same party or the opposition to beat in an election.
Everything thing else can be modify by perception but the country's debt cannot.

This is a tough question because there's a major difference of opinion about what success looks likes. He can start by developing coherent strategies - as far as I can tell, he has none. He also needs to develop some self discipline and not undermine his staff with his off the cuff statements that contradict what they tell the public. Finally, he needs to grow some thicker skin. Every politician gets harassed by the press and mocked by comedians, but other presidents to respond to every criticism with a childish retort. Well, it appears he has to get past #1. Obey his oath and follow the constitution. You all realize he has never divested his investments, or put them in a blind trust, and that he is still consciously profiting from any decisions he makes? For each up and down of the stock market, based on his tweets, anyone with inside information may as well be printing money. And only he and his team have that information. There's also an emoluments clause in that constitution that is very, very sticky for him right now. Personally, if you're profiting from your public service, you can't be a good public servant. I think I'll pass on making a specific comment. However, I agree with many comments. But, I don't agree that President Obama was the worst President. It was obvious from actual things said to him and done to his family that racism was present. Does anyone remember when that female governor pointed her finger in his face on national television, when all of that trash was put on the Internet stating his wife was really a man, the criticism about how his daughters were dressed on the day he honored a turkey. Stop totally lying on the man. Personally, without proof or provacation I believe particular Executive Orders were revenge orders. If they were revenge orders, they accomplished the chaos we now have.

that bar is pretty low but I think he can do it.

Simply put, given his reported negatives overall and lack of ability to get anything "done"--the country is not seeing tons of new regulations, huge spending increases, new taxes, a surging federal bureaucratic machine or new wars. These things alone are HUGE benefits to the country.

While I wish he'd undo Obama's 8 years of messes, just not adding to it is a blessing. I'm not someone who thinks we need to see the Federal Register grow to think our nation is getting some benefit from the government.

The hatred he gets from Hollywood, academia, most of the media etc are also quite satisfying to me, it proves he's no where near as bad as I thought he might be.

I'd like anything that would bring the CIA under better control and direction. The President needs to continue his campaign promises and if he has to modify or rethink any of the campaign promises maybe allow input from the electorate. He needs to get the borders under control now.

One very important note for the President is he needs to check his facts so he is more leader like. I believe he has been in control of subjects in the business world so long and hasn't had a real need to check his facts. He is now performing a much different job and people rely on him to know what he is talking about. I trust him much more than our previous Commander and Chief. President trump is doing a much better job in foreign relations so far.

Honestly (and my views do not reflect the DOD or DON), he needs to take a better look at ALL citizens in the USA. In my opinion, the POTUS has a narrow minded view on who counts as a "citizen" and is still fighting people who he has already beat (Clinton, etc). This "tax plan" is his only real major "accomplishment" in his presidency so far (and that is a stretch). Him provoking North Korea isnt helping either. He need to set his pride aside and look towards his people and find out what WE need. (Again my views are strictly my own and do not reflect the DOD or DON).

He currently is by far more successful than his predecessor. Obama, Hillary, Comey, Mueller, Loretta Lynch have completely ruined the integrity of our FBI and judicial system. They did not properly try and convict Hillary and Obama for sending receiving top secret government information on unsecure private servers that were compromised by other foreign countries. They instead covered it up with the aid of the top officials of the FBI, State Department and Attorney Generals Office. Obama illegally broke US sanctions and gave our enemy Iran $1.6 billion dollars. We do not need to mention Hillary complete disgrace to the country and should be in jail for life. Trump is not politically correct he is a contractor a builder and speaks as such. Since his election illegal immigration into the US is at a 45 year low and down 50% illegals fear Trump as they should they are here illegally. Illegal drug trafficking into the us down 50%, stock market 56 record highs in one year never been done before, Americans are wealthier now than they have ever been, unemployment is the lowest in 18 years, Trump just got a tax reform bill passed which has not been done by any other president in 3 decades. He is not popular among Liberal Democrats but he is touted by many as maybe the best president in US history. What he has accomplished in just 12 short months with no help from the Democrats and little from the swamp GOP is unprecedented.

A Republican, BUSH JR, signed the Patriot Act into FEDERAL law which allows the federal Government the right to suspend the protections of Freedom afforded under the U.S. Constitution.

Nothing any U.S. President can do to promote the values of our founding fathers will matter unless POTUS or Congress repeal the Patriot Act.

Not much more than he has already done. The recently-signed tax law has laid the foundation for America becoming internationally competitive again. That same bill included the removal of the individual mandate to pay taxes for ObamaCare. That single item will probably lead to the effective end of ObamaCare, thank God! In the next year and beyond, we will see the end of several thousand more unnecessary federal regulations. So, we're off to a very good start.

Appoint people who are QUALIFIED to run their respective offices. Take the religious zealots out of the equation. (separation of church and state is there for a reason). Make government employees keep their personal religious beliefs out of the workplace, and fire them if they won't. It's not for them to pass judgement on how others live their lives, so butt out. Stop the war on women. He obviously has a problem with women making their own decisions and a bigger problem with them not doing what he wants. Personally, if he sexually assaulted me, he'd draw back two bloody stumps, one being his hand. The idea of keeping women barefoot, pregnant and at home is obsolete and he and the rest of the Neanderthals need to join the 21st century. If Obama was such a terrible president, why does he have the respect of the world, and Trump doesn't. Why is Trump so fixated on the man--he's a private citizen now, as is Hillary Clinton. He can't let go, and that alone tells me there's a big problem. Why do you all want such a SPOILED ROTTEN MAN-CHILD in the presidency, and worse, why do you think his actions now are admirable?

Simply put he will have to replace Obama care with a working system. Since his predecessor passed a health care plan, something none of the presidents before him could do, I would say he needs to replace it with something better if he wants to be considered more successful. To do something of that magnitude, he would first have to set his ego aside, actually study and become knowledgeable on the issue, work with both parties to get a compromise bill passed, and then implement it without a major hitch. Chances of that happening? Slim and none.......and slim just left town. The shame of it is......Trump had a chance to do something special......but he chose to make it all about him, and his family, and brought in all of his wall street buddies (who are making the swamp creatures they replaced look like choir boys). He is coddling brutal dictators, while dissing our long time allies on the world stage.......and launching a trade war with his punitive tariffs. One thing he definitely tops his successor at is playing golf.......the one thing he told us he wouldn't have time to do. Another area he excels at is indictments......his picks to run his campaign and our government have accumulated many more indictments and resignations at this stage of his presidency than any of his predecessors. Well done, Mr. Trump......well done.
