What would be the benefit of submitting a promotion packet without a waiver and TIG being met? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-would-be-the-benefit-of-submitting-a-promotion-packet-without-a-waiver-and-tig-being-met <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My SSG is recommending me to submit a promotion packet without me meeting my TIG requirements. He also stated he will not be submitting a waiver for my TIG. I am fully aware of the regulation of 6 months for my Secondary Zone. My TIS is already met. I did mention to him that my understanding o the regulation is I would have to wait until you meet TIG requirements. He stated &quot;no&quot;. From my understanding without meeting the requirements and having the proper waivers my packet will only get kicked back. What would the benefit of submitting a packet without a waiver and without my TIG being met? Because I&#39;m not quite understanding his offer. If you have 4 months TIG, you don&#39;t need a waiver. You SSG would not have the juice to do that anyway, he would have to get that kicked up to the Commander, who under some circumstances can waiver up to half the TIG requirements. If he has a belief in you that you&#39;d do well as an NCO, then he is wanting to ensure you have a packet 95% ready short of getting signatures when word comes down that promotion packets need to be submitted for the next board. If you don&#39;t start until after receiving a go, then by the time it is all assembled it may be past suspense for submission. Your career is in your own hands, and your SSG is trying to make sure you have it all together. Opportunity is when luck meets preparation. Be prepared. It would be good practice for you- maybe that&#39;s what he wants. To me, if you were that good, then I would be willing to push the waiver.
