A half banana should good approximately 20-30 minutes before. It will provide you with the potassium and nutrients you need. If you want, you can put a little bit of PB or almond butter. If it is over an hour of exercise, perhaps have a greek yogurt and hour before. This got needed sugars/starches in our muscles for endurance and fluids for hydration 13 hrs prior to the event. I've witness some who ate something small (like some oatmeal or half of a banana) and they ended up getting sick. I don't because I don't want that risk. I get too paranoid about cramping up during the run and would rather just be on an empty stomach. <br /><br />If you do decide to eat something, regardless of what people say, try it on a normal PT session first to see if you get issues. Everyone reacts differently to different foods/drinks.
