What would support duty be defined as for the GWOTSM?

I had a question regarding the GWOTSM, i apologize if this was already asked, but my friends and I were wondering if we were elligiable for it, I’m in the guard, and our unit is scheduled to go to GITMO and we’ve been prepping for it and such. Would that fall under: “Global War on Terrorism Service Medal would be awarded not only for direct participation in specific operations, but also to any personnel who performed support duty of an anti-terrorism operation but did not directly participate.”
I have heard from some that it does qualify and some that it does or not, or more commonly having no idea. I was just curious myself?

GITMO is part of the list of authorized countries as long as the orders are in support of OEF, OIF, OND. AR 600-8-22 Section 2-18d

thank you sgt, would the actual training/being put in standby for the deployment count towards it? The reason I’m asking is, some of us are getting transferred to different units.

PFC(P) Samuel Harney - The thing is, is that you must be in direct support of each of those operations. And be on ground in those listed authorized countries. Whether you get attached to a different unit, that makes no matter as long as you are deployed ISO any of those operations and are Boots On Ground for at least 30 days.

PFC(P) Samuel Harney - I would like to clarify something from my previous statement. You have to be in direct support of any ONE of those operations.
