The most effective cardio exercise is one that you can fit into your schedule and do on a regular basis. Most effective for me is when I switch to 30/60s sprints and repeat that workout 10x. Swimming is also good, it uses the whole body and won&#39;t murder your joints. I spent most of my time on my road bike. My rides were never less than 10 miles and were normally about 30. I made sure to get in some hill work, going up and down the same hill(s) a few times. The hill work sucked, but I always maxed the run on my PT test.
