AGR is not you being at your unit in your job, just in AD. You apply for an AGR position that has an opening SFC Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 02 Sep 2021 01:48:40 -0400 2021-09-02T01:48:40-04:00 Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 2 at 2021 10:22 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/when-applying-to-become-agr-do-you-stay-with-the-same-reserve-unit-or-do-you-automatically-get-put-in-another-reserve-unit-somewhere-else?n=7238683&urlhash=7238683 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You are Active Duty for the Reserves/Guard. You PCS just like anyone else. You may stay, but you stand a higher chance of being sent to a different unit. Most cases they give you two or three duty locations to pick from on that first tour. If USAR, you will go needs of the army and PCS every 3 years, guaranteed. If ARNG, you apply to a specific opening and will not likely move any time soon. That said, I&#39;ve known people who got their first assignment within that 250 miles. Whatever happens, if you get a job offer, accept it. You can go anywhere and do anything for 3 years. Don&#39;t try to negotiate a position or location. You&#39;ll get more of a selection in all of your follow-on assignments, after you have received your INDEF AGR order.
