When are Army class B's authorized to be worn? Also, are ribbons required?

Question keeps circulating as to if the class B's tropical uniform can be worn year round or only during hot weather months? And are ribbons required or optional. Please advise!

AR 670-1 doesn't specify it, as far as I can tell, but DA Pam 670-1 does have the following:
"13–6. General guidelines
a. When a specific service uniform is not prescribed for formations or other occasions when uniformity in appearance is not required, Soldiers may wear the Class A or any of the variations of the Class B uniform, with the accessories authorized for these uniforms."

So, bottom line: If the boss directs, wear that. Otherwise, it's your call. When in doubt, it's safer to err in the direction of Class A.

The commander specifies the uniform. I'm sure your CSM will tell you if you don't know.

AR670-1 will state when such uniforms can be, as well as how they are to be, worn. This includes displaying ribbons which are dictated by your chain of command for Class Bs.
