When are single USAR reservists entitled to BAH whilst on ADOS orders? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/when-are-single-usar-reservists-entitled-to-bah-whilst-on-ados-orders

I was once activated on Title 10 CO-ADOS orders and received BAH w/out dependents rate. I am now on standard Title 10 ADOS orders for a year and am receiving BAH type II. I will be PCSing to Germany in a week. I was entitled to POV shipment, HHG, and to bring dependents. Though I have been told on multiple occasions that all reservists, on orders for 30 or more days, are entitled to BAH regardless of marriage status. I looked up JTR chapter 10 says this:

BAH for Reserve Component (RC) Member (BAH-RC):Paid when authorized for an RC member called or ordered to active duty for 30 or fewer days, except when called to active duty for a contingency. When an RC member is called to active duty for a contingency, even for tours of 30 or fewer days, he or she is authorized the BAH or OHA rate. The Secretary of Defense establishes BAH-RC rates.

This makes BAH-RC sound like a different entitlement than BAH. Could any elaborate on receiving BAH? Thank you. If you're on orders for more than 30 days, you "should" be getting regular BAH. They will need your LES, so download that and email it. It is for SMs on active duty for 30 days or less; it is also referred to as Non-Locality BAH or Transient BAH. Non Locality Rates are used across the whole compo-spectrum. For example RA SMs when PCS'ing, this BAH Rate that is paid when a SMs departs from a location where he/she was in the barracks.

If your current Title 10 ADOS orders are for more than 30 days then you should be receiving BAH w/out dependents now. A couple years ago, there was a requirement to have an updated DA5960 in RLAS (more details on this if needed). Any SM on active duty more than 30 days without RLAS being updated will received the Non Locality BAH rate with or without dependents. To my knowledge there is no "RC" version of OHA but it is in your best interest to fix your current BAH situation now (before you leave your managing finance office.

DIAMONDS ARE FORVER!
-SGT O SGT Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 14 Mar 2019 11:39:33 -0400 2019-03-14T11:39:33-04:00 2019-03-12T09:10:42-04:00
