I'm talking to a former warrant officer who is now a major and he suggest to check in with your retention NCO or if you happen to see an aviator warrant officer who will have his black Wings Over the US Army. You may notice that their uniforms look similar to ours but they're no longer looking like flight suits but they're actually flight suits that are camouflaged. Hopefully, this worn officer will give you the time of day. They always need Pilots. If so, what major, what GPA, if you can say? Have you done any sport or private pilot training at all? If there's a mil aero club near you, I'd take advantage of it, certainly. It'd help suggest things if you could do a detailed bio sketch, hobbies, sports, interests, martial arts, etc...a family friend was Army enlisted, he got into WOCS, went Army helicopters, did his Bach in aviation at Embryo Riddle, then USCG agreed to pick him up on an intersvc, I'm unsure if he did heir OCS, he might've been a direct commission or gone through an OIS indoc program instead, hat was where he finished his 20 yes as an O-3, I'd always found that a really fascinating story...I couldn't go UPT due to my eyes in USAF, I'd asked about nav, UNT, USAF had a crazy rule that one needed 20/100 minimum, I was 20/200, which always made zero sense to me...I did the NFO med for Navy at an NAS near where I was that had a clinic and could do the aeromed eval, I passed, I never got to intersvc...I was also wondering, have you looked at other flight programs if you're going Bach level? USAF? Navy? USMC? Don't just look at ROTCs, look at USMC platoon leaders course (PLC), it's less well known, look also at the state maritime colleges which all have NROTC, look at USCG Scholarship programs, look at NOAA Corps, they have a flight program, I think there's a 5-yr enlistment, their OCS is the BOTC at USMMA Kings Point where my next younger brother went, I commissioned him when he finished, I wandered through the BOTC bldg out of curiosity...also, being as you're clinical, I take it you don't want to stay clinical? I only ask as, if you want to, at all, or would consider it, look at the USPHS COSTEP, the USPHS analogue to ROTC and USMC PLC, there's a Jr and Sr level, I'd be most eager to hear more if you'd want to elaborate at all, if I can suggest anything more, I'll try, if you want, OK? Study for the SIFT, you only get two shots to pass in your life, but all you need is a GO. Once you’re ready to take the SIFT, submit a 4187 to your CoC to get your commander’s signature so you can take it. Warrant Officer Flight Training is the only Warrant Officer program in the army that does not require you to be an NCO or have ALC complete. What I recommend to you is study for the SIFT, take as many practice tests in the study guides and on the web as you can. You only get two chances to pass the test and the better you score the better your chances of selection. Once you have taken and passed the SIFT the next step is completing a flight physical. These are the two things in the process that are non negotiable. They must be passed to even be eligible. Once those two hurdles are crossed start working on your resume and the packet itself. Write as professionally as you can, have it looked over by Officers or Warrant Officers you trust. Once all of that is complete then and only then go and find an Aviation Warrant Officer who can write your letter of recommendation. Take your completed packet to them and request an interview. If you can't find one send me a message on here or look me up on global and I will try to help you find a Warrant Officer near you who at be able to help or point you in the right direction. Hope this helps. Study hard for the SIFT and brush up on math, physics and read the FAA helicopter handbook. Don't worry about your rank when dropping a flight packet. I had several SPCs and PFCs in with me when I took the SIFT.

Right now the Army needs aviators and this is your best time to drop a packet. Start working on your resume (you can get the form from the WO recruiting web-page) and other parts of your packet while studying for the SIFT. Also, attend a Warrant Officer briefing at your post as they will be able to best direct you during the process. Good luck on your packet.
