As a .50 gunner on a HMMWV, MaxxPro, and Caiman, they saved me from a lot of bumps, bruises, and cuts.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 23 at 2017 12:26 PM2017-06-23T12:26:24-04:002017-06-23T12:26:24-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member2673591<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Only time I used them was to put in between my pants and hips during the rappelling phase of Air Assault. Mostly useless, but for those three days they're worth their weight in gold!Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 23 at 2017 12:29 PM2017-06-23T12:29:19-04:002017-06-23T12:29:19-04:00SGT Joseph Gunderson2673652<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Never! hahaha, those things are absolutely useless. They are a b**** and a half to put into their pockets and they make the uniform look and feel horrible. Throw them in a bag and leave them there, only bringing them out for required layouts. If you need elbow or knee pads for any practical use then use the real ones that they issue you.Response by SGT Joseph Gunderson made Jun 23 at 2017 12:47 PM2017-06-23T12:47:13-04:002017-06-23T12:47:13-04:00SSG Robert Webster2673748<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Can't say about ACUs at all, because I never wore them.<br />I forget about when the Army started issuing knee and elbow pads, but one thing I do remember, I never wore them and hated it because I had to pack them in my ruck, where they took up entirely too much room (couldn't complain about the weight) when I could have used the space to pack something else.Response by SSG Robert Webster made Jun 23 at 2017 1:20 PM2017-06-23T13:20:05-04:002017-06-23T13:20:05-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member2673783<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Never had the need or want to use them.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 23 at 2017 1:29 PM2017-06-23T13:29:56-04:002017-06-23T13:29:56-04:00MSG Brad Sand2673795<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>A bit before my time.Response by MSG Brad Sand made Jun 23 at 2017 1:35 PM2017-06-23T13:35:45-04:002017-06-23T13:35:45-04:00CSM Richard StCyr2673823<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Only on deployment, I didn't like the bulk of the knee and elbow pads, and the foam inserts were better than nothing.Response by CSM Richard StCyr made Jun 23 at 2017 1:49 PM2017-06-23T13:49:55-04:002017-06-23T13:49:55-04:00MAJ James Woods2673879<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Only the foam knee pad inserts since I hated the actual combat knee pads.Response by MAJ James Woods made Jun 23 at 2017 2:08 PM2017-06-23T14:08:47-04:002017-06-23T14:08:47-04:00MAJ Private RallyPoint Member2673939<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I only used regular knee pads.
