When a butter bar yells at you for not saluting him and he was about a half mile away. I can still see the look of confusion on his face hahahaha.

I once saw an officer return a salute left handed, because he had a hooked prosthetic in place of his right hand.

When someone is being "piped" aboard, the pipe is held with the right hand and the salute is accomplished with the left hand.
