When should I apply for on base housing? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/when-should-i-apply-for-on-base-housing--2 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am currently attending college and will graduate in the spring. I am in ROTC and will be sent to Advance Camp in June as an at Camp Commissioning. My fiance is an E3 in the Marines and in BRC. He will be sent to his unit in March. (He already knows we&#39;re going to Camp Lejeune.) There is currently a 3-month waitlist. We have a tight timeline. In May I graduate the 12th in Texas, the wedding is the 14th in South Carolina, and we&#39;re moving the 16th from Texas to North Carolina. Should I apply in March when he has orders and provide May as the expected date for housing? So you w ll be eligible when you are married nothing sooner than that. So apply after you get the marriage license. My recommendation would be to find off-base housing. (This is assuming that on-base housing is still segregated by rank, but my experience with base housing is almost 20 years old... it could be different now.) Regardless of the legitimacy of how you ended up that way, you would still have either an O1 in junior enlisted housing or an E3 in junior officer housing. Either way, it would lead to an uncomfortable situation for both your family and your neighbors. You should call yesterday. Those wait lists are no joke. Even if you’re not married now you can still put your name down so you have a better chance of getting a place on post. Looking off post though may be a better option for y’all so make sure you look into that as well. You can pocket some BAH living off post where as on post they take the full amount. Go ahead he married now and Have a wedding later that way you can be looking for an apartment and you won’t have to worry about the wait for on base housing. It would be better for you two to live off base anyway cause less people in your business! So until you are married, it&#39;s barracks life for him. So enjoy the 3 month waitlist, because you&#39;ll be at the bottom of it.
