So my 368 has been approved and I am currently filling out paperwork with my active duty recruiter to go to meps to go fulltime. I am green medically, and have a 90 on my asvab. I asked my recruiter what jobs I could be elligible for because I want to reclass, but he told me he honestly cant tell me whats available until I go to MEPS.

My question is, is there anybody here that went from Guard to Active? And if so, when you went to MEPS, how many (or few) jobs were available to you? Im just trying to get an idea of what I could possibly get and what not. I know as an E4 and below there are more options..

Thanks for your time When transitioning from NG to AD, how many jobs should I expect to be available to me when I get to MEPS? 2019-09-27T22:03:04-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 5067831

Hi! They have what they have on hand that day and you need them more than they need you. They have what they have you can never tell until you meet with them. Remember your reclassing that means "The needs of the Army". They could offer In flight missile repair the promotions are great but people don't last long. Just kidding but.
They will offer you what ever they have at that moment that fits your ability. They have a list of the needs for the Army and they are required to fill those spots 1st. I did not ask this and wanted active duty so bad I took an MOS that 23years later still disgusts me and I have been doing something else while commissioned. Don't make the same mistake I did and do find out if what they offer you do not like if you can walk away. I literally saw people come in two weeks after me get what I wanted. I was a medic in '96 and was told they had no slots available. Bullshit. Does not mean you will get more options or the option you want.

The question is how badly do you want to be in the active army? I transitioned from Reserves to Active Duty and scored perfect on the ASVAB. The recruiters told me Infantry and Tank Mechanics were the only jobs available to me. I said bullshit and started to walk out of the office, and they gave me like 20 jobs available. Keep in touch with us. If you are really looking for a particular MOS you’ll have to work it with him/her. As a prior service you fall under a differ set of rules. So I told my recruiter that I was not interested and take me home. He told me he would when he was done with 2 other recruits. He then went to the station manager without me knowing about it until later and he showed the station manager my scores and my list of 2 MOSs that I wanted. Next thing I knew the station manager came out to talk to me and told me that he called the school house for the MOS that I wanted and got a slot for me and I got the MOS I wanted and loved for 22 years. It all has to do with that little set of scores that each branch derives from the ASVAB. Scoring a 90 means nothing. That is an overall score and does not state specifics as to relation to branch. Also, it will depend on what jobs are open, not just what you qualify for.

It's not a question that anyone here on RP can answer and the only ones that can answer it are the recruiters at MEPS and will do so once you get there.
