LT Private RallyPoint Member 3534453 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>According to the military portion of my townhouse rent contract, according to the realtor&#39;s interpretation, I would have to pay a full months rent even though I&#39;m leaving at the very beginning of the month. Is this right, or am I getting scammed? I provided the realtor several months notice. When using military clause, is it normal to have to pay full months rent even though checking out at the beginning of that month? 2018-04-11T14:30:17-04:00 LT Private RallyPoint Member 3534453 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>According to the military portion of my townhouse rent contract, according to the realtor&#39;s interpretation, I would have to pay a full months rent even though I&#39;m leaving at the very beginning of the month. Ive seen both ways before so its not unheard of, but Id certainly see if a guy who knows a guy in JAG or outside law office can look it over for ya. I would advise reaching out sooner than later. Thank you for your service. Now, if you’re out on the 1st or later then you’re probably required to pay that months rent. The only exception would be if there was a prorated month clause in the lease, but most standard leases do not have any prorated clauses in them. You have given the realtor/landlord ample time in order for them to list the property. In this case, you are not responsible to pay rent when you have legally provided the proper notification, military clause or not.
