Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen They went to fight a war they didn't necessarily believe in, they fought because the guy next to them deserved their support and because the flag meant something. I have nothing but respect for them!

Every day I drive by a particular gas station where a gentleman sits on a bucket with a sign asking for money. But, before he arrives to his spot, he stops by a different gas station and loads up on coffee and what not. Then he gets into his car (with current and valid tags on the car) and drives to a different spot then walks to his preferred corner.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen I saw a soldier wearing one last week. If I have the time, I try to talk to these men to find out when they were in country and what unit. I have only wore my Vietnam cap out in public, once or twice. I prefer to wear one of my Marine Corps caps. I may occasionally walk like an older gentleman, but I do not consider myself an old man. I am sure that many younger folks consider me as old.

This morning. It is one of the benefits of working with a veteran-specific program. I work with vets from almost all eras on a daily basis. Love hearing that they went through the same BS in garrison in the 1960's as I went through in the 2000's. Same shit, different day.

Yesterday while grocery shopping. We were in the same checkout line. I've seen him before and we've chatted before. We nodded to each other. He was paying, i was two customers back in the line.

I don't wear a Vietnam Vet hat instead I wear my Division hat (4th Inf.) but it's funny ,I saw this post I have just returned from Sicily on vacation and noticed a gentleman with a Vietnam cap on and as my custom went up and shook his hand and said "Welcome Home Brother " nothing more was said but we both knew the bond is never broken.

This morning. I see at least one every day. But even without hats it is amazing how vietnam era vets are able to recognize one another even having never met before. It happens all the time. I wear my hats, one Korea and one Vietnam Vet, although I did not actually serve in-country. I did my hell in Korea.

I live in San Antonio and I swear I see a Vietnam Vet nearly every day. Last week, I was chatting with one because he had served with the Airborne in Vietnam and while we were chatting two more joined us. It was like a VFW meeting! San Antonio is Military City, USA and all proudly advertise with hats and shirts!

I'll wear one more frequently than not. Not a Vietnam veteran hat per se, but I have one with my "Garry Owen" crest. That's what I wear.

See them all the time, but seldom wear a cap myself. As many have said in this string, I often ask what unit they were with and where they served in country. Had a squadron reunion about two months ago, some of us still quite mobile, others not as fortunate, but none of us look like we once were

I wear mine when I go to VA appointments hoping to run into someone I served with. occasionally do. On the way home, when I'm in a store, someone will thank me for my service and I wonder how they know I served, then remember the hat. lot different than 50 years ago. I did get to attend a welcome home VN vets parade in Houston, tx in mid eighties with gen Westmoreland leading, it was
better late than never.
