When you transitioned out of the military, did you transition to a place where your mother and father/siblings lived?

I really didn't have a choice given my wife and I were stationed overseas in Germany when I was involuntarily released from active duty due to the end of the "Cold War" and the "Peace Dividend". We moved in with my Mom and Dad. It was certainly a humbling and learning experience. It made us all closer! I miss both Mom and Dad now!

I am so infinitely pleased, LTC John Mohor; that you, your wife and your Mom and Dad got closer. How cool.
And I'll bet that you do miss your Mom and Dad tremendously.
They are and were incredibly PROUD of their son; Lieutenant Colonel.
And they loved you Beyond BELIEF!

I did indeed. I made the transition from Ft. Lewis, Washington; to my sister's apartment in San Francisco.
I am a native San Franciscan.
There was no transition counseling, when I was discharged; during the Cold War.

Its me again Margaret. You should have seen the stacks of racing forms inside Harry Britt's apartment. Definitely a San Francisco landmark.

Not us. I retired and headed to Tulsa to attend Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology. Prior to the plan to move to Tulsa I had never stepped foot in OK. One year prior I did a route recon to verify if Tulsa was "doable" for us and 30-days out did another trip to buy a house.
We are gypsies at heart and haven't figured where our next move will be but so far the states "our people" are in aren't in the running. Not for any bad reasons, just more of a been there done that and looking for new challenges mentality. Both of us want to work and live somewhere overseas.
