As a disabled veteran, where can I seek physical help with moving (boxes and furniture)?

I am a disabled veteran and I tried calling the va for assistance moving as I can't lift my moving boxes and furniture myself. They transferred me to different departments with no answers to help.

Try contacting your nearest VSO (American Legion and VFW) to see if they can spare some bodies

Have you try getting hold a local veteran post or maybe the country VA?

The VA doesn’t have bandwidth for that type of request but I would reach out to your local Vet Non profits for assistance. I’m sure you can get some volunteers

Thank you for the help everyone! I did reach out to the American Legion posts in both states and they said they will do what they can to help. I also contacted the DAV and they are working on a quote for me!

Most moving companies provide people who will help with packing your house then the movers will lift everything else also tell them that your a disabled veteran when I moved out of my ex's house and bought my house all I did was sat back and watched

Check with local Amvets, VFW or American Legions for a community liaison. I know our Amvets Riders love getting out helping other veterans. Even their Son's or Auxiliary may be able to help. Good luck!

Heck, when I needed help none was available in Denver Colorado. Had to call moving companies for help at a cost of thousands of $$$. On a fixed income would have loved some volunteers to help a 100% rated veteran in a wheelchair to some point. But, it is a crap shoot if you find help or not just have $$$ either way.

Along with your local VSO's, reach out to your local Boys & Girls Clubs or Scout Troops. Years ago, I was lucky enough to get the High School Wrestling Team to help me move my apartment into a storage unit, before a cross-country move. You can also check to see if your city, county or state has a senoir agency that may know of other resources. Good Luck to you.

It might be worth contacting a local moving company and asking for a discount. Usually the smaller /local places can offer some deals, versus the corporate chains.

Check with your local Veterans organizations.
VFW’s, American Legion, DAV, Wounded Warrior Project, Marine Corps League, Veterans Service Officers, etc.

As a VFW Post Commander, we exist to Serve Veterans and their Families. If you can’t find help, message me and I will get you some local help.
