Nowhere and AR 670-1 or DA PAM 670-1 can I find a reference to the wear of these, any thoughts?

SPC (Join to see), No. Stop trying to be outside the box. Keep it simple. What is wrong with the pants available at clothing sales? Why are you interested in being different? Don’t against the grain on these issues. That’s my thought.

Only asking because I’ve seen some soldiers walking around the AO with them and wanted to be knowledgeable on intended use of these specific pants so that I could make an on the spot correction if warranted SFC.

SPC (Join to see) - Its most likely a unit commanders decision. Most things fall under the "commanders discretion" clause. I wouldn't wear them without asking, but I wouldn't go correcting folks outside of your unit either. They could very well be authorized to wear them as long as they aren't prohibited in writing.

PFC Doane, fair enough. However, you should provide a situation behind the reason for your question. All too often, junior enlisted Soldiers come on here to seek guidance so they can attempt to circumvent their chain-of-command.

With regards to your question, those pants are typically worn by special operations across all branches of service and are governed by local policies.

I commend you on wanting to enforce uniform regulations and ensuring you are educated before doing so.

They are intended for field/combat use only, not for wear in garrison. This applies to units that are issued the Patagonia or Cyre Precision uniforms as well. As for reference, that might be a little difficult to find explicitly written in black and white because everything I have seen has been in memos based on some obscure regulation about field items being worn in garrison. I am sure we will have provoke at least one senior NCO to have a "moment" Rain Man style to recall it, but I cannot at this moment.

Check your post pamphlet if you have one. Ours (CAM Pam 600-1) stipulates how long before and after deployments we are allowed to wear deployment uniforms. However, CDRs can exercise discretion.
