Where can I find an example of how to fill out a DA 4187 for on the job training? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/where-can-i-find-an-example-of-how-to-fill-out-a-da-4187-for-on-the-job-training

I have just re-enlisted and am attending EOD phase one in January and I would like to get some on the job training that a few officers here have told me would be good. I am trying to figure out or find an example on how to write up the 4187. I have tried contacting the EOD unit here a couple times but haven't been able to get in contact with anyone yet and was just going to see if any of you have the answers. Any help would be appreciated. If your current commander and NCOs are good with you going for cross training before school, just go to the EOD section and ask them if you can learn what you can from them. That went away over 20 years ago.
What you want to do is referred to as cross-training.
First you need to contact that EOD unit to determine if they have time for you, and how much.
If they say yes, you go to your command.
If EOD has time to take you on 5 days a week, you ask your command to attach you to the EOD unit, and the EOD unit has you for admin, training and pay for the duration of attachment.
If it is a few days a week or month, you work out the schedule with your leadership to report to EOD those days, and you check in with your first line leader at the beginning and end of each of those days.
If it doesn't work out, you'll be fine, the EOD course will teach you everything you need to know for the job. Try and reach out to either the EOD recruiter or the officer who did your interview.

Can you PM me your .mil SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 05 May 2021 13:47:03 -0400 2021-05-05T13:47:03-04:00 Response by CW3 Private RallyPoint Member made May 9 at 2021 7:56 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/where-can-i-find-an-example-of-how-to-fill-out-a-da-4187-for-on-the-job-training?n=6961742&urlhash=6961742

Not sure that you need a 4187...which, to me, implies you're trying to get a permanent assignment with this EOD unit prior to shipping off for AIT. What I would shoot for is an MoA/MoU (Memorandum of Agreement/Understanding) generated between your current commander and the EOD unit commander that outlines a prescribed schedule for your attendance at the EOD unit. A 4187 requires much more staffing (Co Commander thru BDE Commander thru HRC). I believe it's unnecessary in this scenario.
