Where can I find any information on housing (on or off-post) and a training calendar for Fort Riley?

Manhattan is a nice place to live, but the drive will get old after awhile. On post isn't bad either.

On post is the way to go, I stayed in Manhattan and jc, on post is definitely the best. I'm not sure where you can find the calendar, sorry about that.

Im on my phone now so I wont go into great detail due to fat thumbs. Anyways...off post housing will either be in Junction City or Manhattan. Manhattan has better offerings in terms of shopping, food and entertainment. However you will pay more for it. Getting on and off post is easier coming from JC. Schools are better in Manhattan if you have kids.

When I was there the wait for on post housing was something like 8-12 months. Not sure if thats the case still or not.

Depending on your family size, you can find a decent apartment (1-2 bed from $575-$750) off post and save some money. On post housing will be good if you have at least 3 dependants.

The training holiday calendar can be found on their public website at http://www.riley.army.mil. You should become very familiar with that site, it often contains the most up to date information on schedules, special events, weather advisories, and many other useful things.

I lived there when I was on active duty. Definitely look for housing in Manhattan. A little drive but worth it.

I went to Ft Riley and ended up broke, divorced, and my career on the skids. If you can't live on post there is Junction City and Manhattan. Junction City has some seedy parts but it gets better when you move away from the center of the city. Manhattan is the most normal place to live. It's about a 20 mile drive to post.

I have arrived to Ft .Riley, KS and I do recommend living on the installation housing. Living in Manhattan is about 20min away and PT traffic may delay you if you are in them Armor & Infantry Battalions toward the rear of post. Overall, housing is great and Ft. Riley area is nice and the community is country and friendly.
