Review other specialties as well. Field Artillery is honorable and challenging, it has a very broad array of jobs that are very physically demanding. If after reviewing other specialties you land on the FA, then come back and ask for specifics in the many MOS’s within the FA. You can also go offline with folks from that field. Good luck! The artillery is comprised of several different mos's that all work together. The main mos's are the cannoneers, Fire direction control (FDC) your FO's. You have several support mos's as well, but they are not dedicated field artillery mos's. What is your specific interest? If you like camping, you wont after being artillery.

You will get strong, possibly have your hearing impacted(i dont think mine have been, other than having tinnitus if its dead silent)

There's nothing like shooting a howitzer, even better when you can see the impact area. I will say they seem to be working on some cool stuff for artillery you should google the Hawkeye Howitzer.

I think the worst thing about Towed Artillery is when you have to do survivability moves, where you move from one place to another, getting the camouflage nets up and down quickly is an energy drainer. Long hours though since every M109A6 is a pacing item which means if it goes down (gets too broken) someone way higher up than you finds out and askes questions.
