SFC Private RallyPoint Member 2489446

I would like to volunteer to join the Army's and Fort Benning's new SFAB (Security Forces Advisor Brigade). Does anybody have any more information about this new Brigade besides the few arrivals about it on the net? Also, they will be operational, do you think that if you're an E7 you would actually get rated PSG? I'm curious if it would be like "instructor" ratings or something similar. Thanks. Where can I find information on Fort Benning's new SFAB (Security Forces Assistance Brigade)? 2017-04-12T15:25:38-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 2489446

I would like to volunteer to join the Army's and Fort Benning's new SFAB (Security Forces Advisor Brigade). Polk as we took over the SFAT Training Mission from 1/1 ID out of Riley.
While I haven't been personally involved in TTs (or the 'new' SFATs) since 2010, from what I am reading, this looks like what we were working towards between 2009-10 as the TT mission evolved and we were training groups of Field Grade officers (and some senior NCOs) on how to do the Advise mission for both Iraq and Afghanistan.
I recommend looking back at what the 162nd was doing as well, if there is anything still out there on them. I think they have fully deactivated, except for 3-353rd Regiment which is part of Ops Group.
"Everyone a Tiger"
Omne vir Tigris! USAHRC has posted several related online posts about volunteering for duty in the 1st SFAB and the associated MATA -- both based at MCoE at Fort Benning, as best I understand -- as HRC has sent reps to support Army-wide presentations a selected US Army installations about duty with the SFABs.

Hope USAHRC also has a personnel management program in place or under development for professional development, institutionalization and advancement of members of this functional area to support that important mission.

Hope this helps. Before someone else points it out, yes SFAB is my biggest competitor. However, many soldiers are so dissatisfied with their units that they view SFAB as a quick way out of their unit.
The Army is dangling a lot of "incentives" for people to volunteer. $5000 bonus (minus a bunch of tax is probably only $3800 - so a months pay for an E6. Foreign Weapons course - its one week at Bragg covering AK series weapons. Language training - probably a crash course, not the full 6 month Special Ops course or up to 2 year DLI (which will not get you a 2/2 DLPT to get FLPP), waived PME requirements - you still have to go eventually, just now you will be behind all your peers in PME when you leave SFAB.

If you wish to go SFAB and conduct the SFAB mission, training foreign conventionals or supporting those who do, then by all means drop a packet. If you just want out of your unit, do the SFAB a favor and do not drop your packet, because some people will get through the 2 day "selection" and be a piece of crap when they end up in just another conventional unit that they tried so hard to get away from. SFABs need experienced, professional, motivated people who want to be there, not disgruntled soldiers wanting out of their crap unit.

As for SERE, I haven't heard anything of it being an SFAB school. There are few jobs in the Army who need it. If you really want it, go flight or drop an ARSOF packet.
