Where can I find vets who want certifications (I'm an Education Consultant for an IT school)?

Have you reached out to any local Veteran organizations in your area to see if they can help you? You can also talk to the Business Development people here on RallyPoint to see about starting a partnership with RP and your program.

Columbus Ohio is a college town the veteran population is difficult to communicate with via veterans groups.

You can post information at the Columbus VA clinic on James Road near the airport. Post online forums like FB, RP, LinkedIn, technical groups or security organizations like ASIS. GO to OSU or Capital ROTC and veterans coordinators. Go to the Ohio department of veterans services, they have a web site listing of all veterans groups in the state with contact numbers. Connect with me, I have a few other state job contacts that may be able to assist as well.

Id suggest the vet rep at the unemployment office. Make sure they know that there are programs available and that the GI bill will cover it. In some areas, the unemployment office has contracted with local schools to help vets get IT certs.

For USAF we have our Airman and family readiness center A&FRC they sponsor our congressionally mandated Transition GPS class. Every Amn that separates must attend. The Dept of Labor presents credentialing opportunities as a part of that class.

I already work in IT. Years of experience but no current certs (current job doesn't require certs nor do I really need them for my present position).

However I do want to expand my skillset so that I can not only be a better technician/engineer, but make myself a more valuable employee.

With that said, does New Horizon Learning Group offer instructor-led training for people like myself? I've spoken with my local NHLG center before, and I was led to believe that since I already work in IT, I can only use my GI Bill to pay for certification testing, not certification training. Is that true or am I misunderstanding something?

I recently came across this training online. I have signed up, but not enrolled in any of the courses yet. It is the Federal Virtual Training Environment operated through the Department of Homeland Security's government domain. They teach CompTIA A+ and several others.
