Where did the phrase "greeting of the day" originate? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/where-did-the-phrase-greeting-of-the-day-originate <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>These days it seems its become Good morning/afternoon/evening with unit relevant phrases interjected. I was wondering if there was a greater significance to it when it was coined. Like maybe a greeting that was given out by commanders to root out spies if they didn&#39;t return it properly or something in revolutionary/civil wars etc. Anyone have an answer?
