1. You could be stationed in the United States or you could be stationed elsewhere. Says we don't have very many armored forces outside the US, at this time, you will probably be stationed somewhere within the United States or its territories.
2. You get 30 days a year of vacation. Your leadership will tell you when you can take vacation or leave. You're leaving earning statement will also show you how much vacation you have accrued.
3. You may also get passes such as a 3-day pass which may not count toward your 30 days of leave. When I was active duty, I once got a 3-day pass.
4. Near the end of basic training, your duty station will be told to you. You will have order will showing where you're going to go.
5. You may go to missions all over the world and you may temporarily be stationed somewhere for an exercise in Europe or when deployed during wartime.
6. If you are outside the United States, make sure you have an application like what's up on your smartphone so you don't get ripped off like I did when I was in basic training or when I was in Iraq or Afghanistan. Today's soldiers can have smartphones that use the Wi-Fi and save lots of money.LTC Stephen ConwayFri, 30 Mar 2018 22:52:24 -04002018-03-30T22:52:24-04:00Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 30 at 2018 11:38 PM

50/50 on where you get assigned. However, if you want a little control over your assignment, request "option 19" which is choice of duty assignment. If you are not receiving an enlistment bonus, then this is another incentive that may still be available for you. It was for me at least when I joined. Good luck.SFC Private RallyPoint MemberFri, 30 Mar 2018 23:38:12 -04002018-03-30T23:38:12-04:00Response by SGT Joseph Gunderson made Mar 31 at 2018 5:09 PM

Personally, I had far too much testosterone in my body to be a 19 anything, let alone a Kilo (13F!), but I know there are a hell of a lot of them at Ft. Hood, Bliss, &Knox. They are stationed with the Armor (Tankers)SSG Erik McKinsterSun, 01 Apr 2018 15:56:33 -04002018-04-01T15:56:33-04:00Response by PFC Anthony Albensi made Jul 14 at 2018 9:28 PM

I know I am way late to this party, and you’re probably already through OSUT, and my info is literally a decade old, but her you go:

1. Any single 18-25 year olds with no dependents were automatically stationed in one of two places: South Korea or Germany. Basically, if you had 0 ties to the States, they sent you overseas ( there went my dreams of serving in Hawaii). It didnt matter what you put down when they asked you where you would liked to be stationed (they passed around a sheet of paper a week or two before you finished OSUT).

2. If you were married/had dependents, I assume they would try to station you near them, otherwise, they would send you wherever the hell they want to.

To be frank, don’t get your hopes up that you’ll get sent somewhere you want to be. In fact, you will handle the ARMY a lot better if you realize that you have no control over the situation, and will be a good soldier no matter where you go.

I never had the privilege of being stationed stateside during my service, unless you count the 3 months I spent at Ft Carson because I was injured in Iraq and literally waited 2.5 months for a plane that was going back. Hours were 9-5 (we always got released before 5) and wasnt much different from home. Man! That was a good 2 months! The rest were spent overseas where you were pretty much on-call 24/7 and were subjected to the whims of your Commanding Officer haha...

Well. Either way. GL and try and make the most of it.PFC Anthony AlbensiSat, 14 Jul 2018 21:28:09 -04002018-07-14T21:28:09-04:00Response by SGM Bill Frazer made Jul 15 at 2018 5:17 PM

!. Suggest you google 19K MOS and then google the Posts that have Armor/Mech units. 2. You get 30 days leave per year and 3-5 (3 day) weekends (Holidays). Depending on Post regs- you might be locked into a 150 mile travel distance unless you get a pass. Off time will vary from unit to unit and Post to Post. Get self-sufficient.SGM Bill FrazerSun, 15 Jul 2018 17:17:27 -04002018-07-15T17:17:27-04:00Response by PO3 David Fries made Oct 9 at 2018 6:48 PM
