What is the reason for your position? Personally I am against it because at the current wage they agreed upon when they were hired, they are incapable of the simplest tasks. Current example: Being the ONLY customer at the moment, I ordered a 10 piece nugget. I received a hamburger. I've had cashiers who couldn't make change without the register telling them how. So what are your thoughts?

Products of today's society. Want more for what they can't do. Many haven't been taught correct math skills, reading skills and yet they want more for doing less. They should have to prove themselves proficient enough to do the simple jobs.
Oh, I'm for no raise.

I appreciate your response. It's something that I've been having difficulty grasping because when I wanted more money, I went out of my way to earn more money. I never understood how people can demand more money without bringing forth anything more to the table.

I am not against people earning what they are worth. However, they don't realize that mandating $15 for non skilled labor will cause a significant increase in prices and they will still be barely scraping by like they are now. I know this may sound heartless, but if they want $15 an hour they should make themselves competitive to get said wage. When I first entered the Civil Service, my hourly rate was $15 with a Bachelor's degree...take from that what you will.

I appreciate your response. I understand the difficulties of living off of minimum wage. The difference being is I never demanded more money. I got a 2nd job, or a 3rd job. I was averaging 75 hours a week juggling 3 jobs to scrape by. But I never complained, I just sought employment elsewhere.

Another thing to mention is that if $15 becomes the minimum, the employee who has worked their way to a $17 rate takes a huge pay cut, or the company must raise his pay as well. This aspect is what so many people overlook. Instead of lifting the bottom, this action just creates a bigger bottom.

SGT- I agree with you on people earning what they are worth. $15 per hour is still a fair wage in some small towns. Some wages or just how little they can pay their help. Also todays young people aren't taught how to be competitive in todays work place. Some cashiers will on go by what the cash register tells the person to do. remember the man that raised all his workers to $70000 a year. Well I understand he is broke now. People didn't like having a degree and a floor sweeper making to same wage.

Against it, plus it needs to ripple effect.. for example I was called the other day about a job position for a skilled fiber optic technician position. I was just curious what it payed? It was 16.75 per hour.. So based on a non-skilled worker getting 15 per hour, this should be adjusted to nearly $33.50 per hour for this skilled fiber tech. I can think of a host of other jobs. If you are going to double min wage, all current pay rates and salaries will need to be doubled. Ludicrous huh?? I thought so...

I appreciate your response and I agree with the ripple effect. I am in a similar position where my highly skilled job with years of experience would be making slightly more than the proposed raise, but not by much.

right on ripple effect will kill this country, more jobs lost to foreign countries or automation, i'm not at this time highly skilled but i am skilled vs unskilled, so in that order 50,30,15 no company can servive that
