Where is a nice place to stay on Fort Hood for an E1 family with one child? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/where-is-a-nice-place-to-stay-on-fort-hood-for-an-e1-family-with-one-child

We will be stationed here in at the end of April and I just wanna know where we should apply to live. We have a young baby so we will need at least 2 rooms but would prefer 3 for when family come down. We also have two large dogs so fenced in yard is a must. I would also like if I can be decently close to pools, gym, day care centers for the baby, and stores. I know it’s a lot to ask for but I just want what’s best for my family. Never had a kid there though so wouldn't be able to help you out much on that front. I thought I remembered seeing day cares on post, and there is also an on post pool as well. My favorite was the cheap but decently maintained 36 hole golf course. It depends on where you live probably. I haven't been there yet - going to PCS later this year.
I heard Copperas Cove has a lot of crime... Other than that Copperas Cove would be next, but there are dives and places I would not feel comfortable with leave my family alone at in cove as well.

As you find a potential locations, feel free to message me the address and Ill recon it for you. Cant make a decision for you, but might be able to help with backgound. I also have friends in all local policing agencies except Fort hood itself, those contacts have moved on. Killeen, Cove, Harker Heights, Kempner, Lampassas ...I have friends or working relationships in all. Get me an address and I can ask about negative activity recently in that area.
