After his absence from two major Democratic events led some to question his commitment to running for president, former Sen. Jim Webb will attend a key upcoming event in Iowa after all.

Webb will attend the Iowa Jefferson-Jackson dinner scheduled for Oct. 24, his spokesperson told msnbc Wednesday afternoon, weeks after a press release for the event went out without Webb’s name on it.

The marquee Democratic event, in the state that holds the nation’s first nominating caucus, is typically a must-attend for Democratic presidential candidates. But Webb was the only invited candidate not to confirm by the time the Iowa Democratic Party announced the lineup for the dinner on Sept. 15.

Considering he is polling somewhere around 2-4%, probably nowhere.
It is too bad, really, that Webb and O'Malley get no attention whatsoever as the Clinton coronation tour continues and Sen Sanders is stalking her as the Left-wing alternative. VP Biden isn't even running, and he polls around 20%.
I hope we get to hear from more of the Democratic Party's candidates, but we probably won't until the first debate.

Senator Webb seems to have almost no money. I don't suppose they will try and block him out of the debate. The Dems don't have candidates by the dozen.

I think the decision has already been made. Starve the second tier of money, leaving the debates few in number and late. The DNC is purposefully minimizing any challenges to Mrs Clinton.

1SG (Join to see) - Yeah, she is trying to get the fix in this time for sure.

Her best chance to be president was in 2004 when Iraq was blowing up and it was shown that the Bush Administration had no plan for postwar Iraq - even worked counter productively - in the aftermath of the invasion.

Too bad she voted for all that. Which is why she should -never-ever- be president.

It is no coincidence that President Obama and now Sen's Webb and Sanders are all pointing out their opposition to that fiasco.

If we -ever- a president with strong foreign policy props, Senator Webb is the guy.

Besides graduating from Annapolis at the top of his class, being first in his class of 243 lieutenants at the Basic School, being a platoon and company commander and winning a Navy Cross, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts in Viet Nam, he was a committee general counsel, congressional staffer, official in the Defense Department, SecNav and senator, he is a NY Times best selling author, has the screenwriting credit for "Rules of Engagement" and he even has a bleeping EMMY.

But the thing that is so awesome is that he resigned as SeNav in protest of what the SecDef asked him to do. It blew me away at the time. Who does that? The story is that the SecDef Carlucci asked him to misrepresent facts to the Congress. He laid it on Carlucci at the time. Awesome. Specifically he was asked to misrepresent the usefulness of a new class of Navy warships.

Senator Webb is exactly what we need.
