CDR Private RallyPoint Member 1197571

Anyone have experience with military lodging in New York City area? I'm looking to take my family on a trip before I mobilize. The Navy Lodge in Staten Island seems like the best value (take the free Staten Island ferry over to Manhattan) but I just wanted to see if anyone had a better suggestion. Where is the best miltary lodging in or near New York City? 2015-12-26T09:58:08-05:00 CDR Private RallyPoint Member 1197571

Anyone have experience with military lodging in New York City area? It is right under the Narrows Bridge. I stayed there as well it definitely cheaper. The weekend buffet at the Officers Club on Ft Hamilton is the best! 2 thumbs up for Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn. USCG-owned and operated, it was ultra-primo. But we were forced to close the base and the island to NYC. Both were great places to stay, although that was several years ago. I assume they are still good places to stay.

We go to New York a couple of times a year to see shows, etc. and usually stay in the Park Central Hotel, which is across from Carnegie Hall. Nice, large rooms at decent prices (for New York). It is just more convenient to be within walking distance of Times Square, Central Park, etc.

If you cannot get a room at a military lodging facility, you can usually find pretty good deals on hotels on sites like Travelocity. I've stayed there twice while in NYC goofing off. The last time it was with my two children for a week exploring National Park/historical monuments (Teddy Roosevelt boyhood home, GEN Grants tomb). It is CHEEP and very spartan but REEKS OF MILITARY history. The place was established by Teddy R's widow and chaired by GoA Pershing. Again its spartan berthing. I plan on taking my 10yo back to NYC and we'll be staying there. Enjoy your time and best of luck doen range.

Soldiers', Sailors', Marines', Coast Guard and Airmen's Club

Serving Those Who Serve

Response by MAJ Keira Brennan made Jan 8 at 2016 11:44 AM 2016-01-08T11:44:22-05:00 2016-01-08T11:44:22-05:00 2015-12-26T09:58:08-05:00
