Where were you during the Government Shutdown of 2013?

Bringing up some old news, but what were you doing during the government shutdown in 2013? I was in the process of PCS'ing from Fort Meade to Labdstuhl Germany. It was a total nightmare! Every facility ran by or with civilians were closed and it was hard to get anything done, especially housing related. What were you up to? Did it effect you?

I know for me I was thankful that I had some really great NCO's that pushed hard to make sure that everything got done!

I sat home for the first week of it. After that they called me back to work. Honestly the 11 furlough Fridays impacted me more than the shut down did. At least I got paid for that.

In Afghanistan working in the Division JOC. We contemplated not working, and the only result we saw was having to walk a little further for chow since they shut down our DFAC.

Working and supporting the military mission as a DOD contractor, while most of the civilians was sent home during the shutdown.

Went to work like normal except we wondered if we were actually going to get paid. It was probably the most productive time administratively I have had in a long time. I was able to catch up on a lot of stuff.
